CIRCULATION POLICY

General Information

The library provides materials and services to support student research and information needs. Stations for listening to audio materials (tapes & CDs) and viewing audiovisual materials (TV & VCR/DVD equipment) are available for in-house use of library materials. The Library has cooperative borrowing agreements with a number of area libraries, and staff will assist you in locating appropriate resources from both local and remote sites. Computers are available for use in the reference room.

Please Note: The use of tobacco products is not allowed in the library.

Borrowing Materials
The circulation desk on the main floor is the checkout point for all library material(s). Greensboro College students must present their Pride Card student ID at the circulation desk when borrowing items. There is no limit to the number of books a student may check out at one time. Renewals
Books may be renewed as often as needed, but can be immediately recalled during the second or subsequent renewals if they are requested by another library patron. Students should present their ID at the circulation desk for item renewals. You can renew a book by going to Library Catalog: NC-PALS, choosing the My Account link at the top of the NC-PALS screen, and clicking on the appropriate buttons.

Fines and Lost Books
Failure to return library materials on time will result in the assessment of fines. Fines are not imposed as a method of obtaining revenue, but as a means of assuring that books are returned promptly so that they can be made available to other borrowers.

Overdue Fines
All 30 day items - 5 cents per day
All 7 day items - 25 cents per day
All closed reserve items - 25 cents per hour
All open reserve items 1 dollar per day

As a courtesy to borrowers, the library sends notices for overdue books. It is the responsibility of the borrower to return materials on time or pay the designated fines.

Items are considered lost if not returned within (2) two weeks after the date of the second notice. The person whose name appears on the checkout record will be charged the cost of the book as listed in the most recent issue of Baker and Taylor Lynx, plus a processing fee. If the material is not returned or the bill is not paid by the end of the semester, the Business Office will be notified and the delinquent borrower’s grades and/or transcripts will be withheld.

Book Drops
Please use the outside book drop, located next to the library’s front door, when the library is not open. Use the inside book drop at the circulation desk when the library is open.
